Jean-Yves Sireau

A new name to many but I am sure you will know his company Fixed Odds Group which owns Betonmarkets.

Mr Sireau is the founder and the pioneer of fixed-odds financial betting and is by far one of the most astute financial minds that I have ever met. He has been featured in numerous magazines and financial press around the world including, Futures magazine, The Telegraph, The Observer and The Financial Times to name just a few.

After studying mathematics and physics in his home country of France, Mr. Sireau joined Credit Commercial de France in Hong Kong in 1992 as Money Market Dealer. He created the investment fund Fortitude Group Inc. in 1993, the fund management company Fortitude Fund Management Ltd. and online dealing system provider Fortitude Securities (Hong Kong) Ltd. Mr. Sireau is the author of several commercial software packages. He founded Fixed-Odds Group Ltd. in October 1999 in partnership with Regent Pacific Group Ltd., a Hong Kong listed company.

Martin J Pring

Many people claim to be technical traders, chartists and analysts, but there is only one true chart guru (who is still living) in the world and that is Martin Pring.

Martin J. Pring entered the financial markets in 1969 and has grown to become a leader in the global investment community. In 1981, he founded the International Institute for Economic Research, and began providing research for financial institutions and individual investors around the world. Since 1984, he has published a monthly market review offering a long-term synopsis of the world's major financial markets.

In huge demand as a speaker worldwide, he is the author of several outstanding books including, Introduction to Technical Analysis, Martin Pring on Market Momentum, and Technical Analysis Explained, now in its third edition. Since this unique book first appeared in 1979, Technical Analysis Explained has established itself as the number one guide of its kind. It is used by several international technical societies for training and is one of the three main books for Level 1 CMT certification for the Market Technicians Association. Translated into over 10 languages, the book is, as quoted in Forbes, "widely regarded as the standard work for this generation of chartists". According to Futures Magazine "it is one of the best books on technical analysis to come out since Edwards & Magee's classic text in 1948…belongs on the shelf of every serious trader and technical analyst."

You may already have read articles and books by Martin. He has an outstanding skill in making complicated subjects very simple. Martin is English but now lives in the US - he still retains a very clear English accent (which helps!)

Martin provided an introductory session on various aspects of technical trading, reading charts and using indicators. He then followed with a whole day session on the second day (more details further on).

The principal part of the presentation introduced four technical techniques, moving averages, momentum, price patterns and trendlines that can be used to identify the direction of the long-term trend and short-term trading opportunities in commodities, currencies and stock index futures.

James B. Rogers Jr

If you do not know this name then I suggest you check one of the worlds leading futures trading books "Market Wizards" and turn to page 283. That's right Jim Rogers is a Market Wizard, he started trading the stock market with $600 in 1968.

In 1973 he formed the Quantum Fund with the legendry investor George Soros before retiring, a multi millionare at the age of 37. He is by far the shrewdest investor of our times and 2 years ago formed the Roger Raw Meterials Index which is up over 80%. Allthough "retired" Mr Rogers continues to invest and has many trading interests especially focussed on emerging markets and commodities.

He was out of the investment limelight for three years as he has been on a round the world trip in a converted Mercedes-Benz and his journey is in the Guinness book of records.

"It began in Iceland way back on 1-1-1999. Our non-stop, self-contained, three-year trip in a one-of-a-kind Mercedes-Benz took us to six continents, where our goal was to explore as much of the world as possible at the turn of the millennium, to learn what people and countries were doing and to see how well they were doing it. We met extraordinary and ordinary people, drove through war zones, blizzards, deserts, jungles, faced epidemics, and tasted divine and sometimes horrible food, while covering vastly diverse landscapes, cultures, and societies. Along the way, we documented our experiences and discoveries with photography, video, audio, and written thoughts."

Of course while on his travels Mr Rogers was also looking at new investment opportunities and he shared his findings with us, live on camera.
